Biography
Nicole Abeleda, ASW (She/They)
Nicole Abeleda received her Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from California State University, Sacramento in 2017. In May 2020, Nicole graduated from Boston College with a Masters in Social Work and concentration in Clinical Mental Health, specializing in Neuroscience, and was awarded the Dean’s Leadership Award.
Nicole has worked in direct service, advocacy, and education through her roles as a Health Advocate for the Gender Health Center in Sacramento; Director for a Before and After School Program working with school aged youth; Graduate Assistant at Massachusett Institute of Technology (MIT) for LBGTQ+ Services; group therapy facilitator for LGBTQ+ adults; and working as an Elder Mental Health Outreach Intern providing in home therapy and crisis services for a non-profit organization.
She has years of experience as an advocate for social justice, community organizer, providing outreach, cultural responsiveness, direct action, change and systems work, and group facilitation. She is an Associate Clinical Social Worker (ASW) and has experience with children, adults and families, and LGBTQIA+ populations in behavioral health.
