Medicine
Part of Elica's Wellness Outside Walls (WOW) initiative is the Health on Wheels (HOW) mobile medicine program, featuring state-of-the-art mobile health clinics with full exam rooms that provide services to two primary groups: hard to reach populations with barriers to accessing care and underserved students at select schools within Elica's service area.
Hard to Reach Populations
The Health on Wheels mobile medicine program delivers services to those who are unable to visit a standing clinic due to barriers, such as lack of transportation, language difficulties, homelessness, mental illness, and more.
By bringing services to these individuals, we help reduce use of local ER departments and tax-funded services, such as fire and police.
School based Services
HOW mobile clinics visit area schools to provide primary care and related services, including vaccinations, sports physicals, and more. We do this by invitation from the schools or through formal agreement, with the San Juan Unified School District, where we provide services four days a week at select campuses during the school year.
The Process
Receiving services from the HOW is the same as having an appointment at a regular medical practice. You must become an Elica patient, complete intake forms, and have an initial physical. Also, if you are bringing your child to the HOW, please have insurance documentation and vaccination records with you.
